Dr. Robert Sims, Interim Senior Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Robert F. Sims is a lifelong Lutheran and graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory, NC, in 1958. Upon graduation from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia, SC, Pastor Sims received the award for excellence in New Testament. In 1963 he was named the Outstanding Young Man of the Year in Shelby, North Carolina. Since finishing seminary, he has participated in numerous postgraduate training programs including the Seminary's Scholars' Program in 1966 and the Metropolitan Ecumenical Training Center, Washington, D. C., program in 1968. He entered the Doctor of Ministry program at the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 1974 and was the first Lutheran to receive the Doctor of Ministry degree in February, 1978. He also received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Newberry College, Newberry, SC, in 1991.
Dr. Sims has served on the boards of several Lutheran institutions including the Lowman Home, Newberry College and the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. Across a ministry of 45 years he has served various congregations: Ascension, Shelby, NC; Redeemer, McLean, VA; Ebenezer, Columbia, SC; and Redeemer, Atlanta, GA from 1988 to October 2006. Prior to coming to Christ the King, he also served as Interim Senior Pastor at Epiphany, Suwanee, GA.

Sherry Morrison, Associate Pastor

Sherry is a 1987 graduate of Wayne State Univ. in Detroit, MI. She earned a Master of Divinity degree from Gettysburg Seminary in 1994. Sherry's first call was in Hollis, Queens, NY. She then served as Associate Pastor in Winchester, VA, Centreville, VA and McLean, VA before moving south to Norcross, Georgia. Her ministry mission statement is, "To help all people, especially youth, discover their spiritual giftedness, and to discern how and where they can further develop and use their giftedness for the kingdom of God."

Nancy Kimbrough, Coordinator of Adult Ministries

Nancy L. Kimbrough functions as the Coordinator of A.C.E.S. (Adult Christian Education & Support) here at Christ the King. Her responsibilities include overseeing The EDGE (Adult Sunday School), Family Forum (F2), and the Adult Small Group Ministry. Nancy’s education includes a Masters in Biblical Studies, a Masters in Counseling and Guidance, and a Masters in Marital and Family Therapy. During her free time, she enjoys, walking, hiking, bicycling and reading. She’s even dared to go white water rafting a time or two!!

Marissa Letscher, Coordinator of Children's Ministries

Marissa grew up in the ELCA as a P.K. (yes, a Pastor's Kid). She loves the church and has been active in church leadership since high school. Marissa graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN in 2002 with a B.A. in Elementary Education, married her husband, Stan, in 2004 and shortly thereafter answered the call to seminary. Marissa joined the CtK staff in July of 2007, after graduating from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena,CA with a Master of Divinity degree, with a concentration in Worship, Theology and the Arts. While at seminary she discovered her passion for ministry to and with children, and loves her job ministering to the children and families at CtK.

John Marsh, Director of Music and Worship

John Marsh began his musical training studying piano with his aunt, Rosa Weikel. He earned degrees from Indiana University and the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. Dr. Marsh leads musical ensembles, plans liturgies and supervises music staff and worship guilds. Active in The Leadership Program for Musicians, he has served LPM as faculty, East Texas coordinator and is now the Vice-Chair of the National LPM Board. In his personal time, John enjoys reading, listening to all kinds of music, cooking, friends and good conversation.

Kelly Totten, Administrative Assisstant

Kelly has been a member of CtK for the past 11 years, when she joined with her husband and two daughters. She is active with the Music ministry, playing with fellow wind-instrument players and in the CtK orchestra. When not at church, she plays with the Peachtree Symphonic Winds, enjoys her two Chinese Crested dogs, crochets and does scrapbooking.
