Norcross Cooperative Ministry is a multi-congregation ministry that provides food, clothing, small household items, English classes, employment and financial counseling and other assistance to needy families who reside in Norcross. Christ the King assists with food and clothing drives. Volunteers are needed to sort clothing, stock food items, talk to persons in need, and work in the office. Cathy Freeman is the Coordinator.  Contact the church office for more information, or go directly to the Norcross Cooperative Ministry Website.

Pray for the NCM Board, staff, and volunteers as we face new challenges this year with the increase of client requests and uncertainty concerning our resources.  There is a particular need now for English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teachers for Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Contact the Co-op at 770-263-0013 if you can volunteer.

Simple Ways That You Can Help

Family Promise

Family Promise

Making an Impact
One Family at a Time!

Christ the King is a Family Promise host congregation for three weeks during the summer to carefully screened homeless families who need assistance finding stable employment and housing through Family Promise of Gwinnett, Inc. As a host, we provide overnight lodging, meals (supper, breakfast, sack lunch) and hospitality for 3-4 families for one week (5pm-7am) on a rotating basis with 14-16 other churches.  Volunteers provide and serve meals, host overnight, play with the children, and set up and take down beds. The Family Promise Coordinators provide an excellent orientation and guidance so that both hosts and families enjoy a positive experience.  Contact the church office at 770-449-1211 for more information.

Red Cross Blood Drive

Christ the King hosts periodic Red Cross Blood Drives supported by this congregation and the local community. Volunteers are always needed for registration and to host the cookie and juice table.  The Red Cross Bloodmobile was here at Christ the King on Sunday, October 18th.  We anticipate the next Blood Drive will be in the Spring of 2010.  Check back in early 2010 when we learn from the Red Cross the specific date.  At that time, we urge you to contact the church office to volunteer or register as a donor.

Disaster Response

Christ the King's Disaster Response Team is presently involved with response to Gulf hurricane recovery efforts. Team CtK volunteers travel to assist with roof repairs and food preparation at a church center for volunteers. Jan Arnson and Gary Tjersland, Coordinators.  Please contact the church office for more information.

Health Ministry

CtK provides health screenings and educational events which are scheduled for the congregation and community throughout the year.  These events include: skin cancer screening, blood pressure checks, osteoporosis screening, etc. CPR certification training is also offered. Volunteers are needed for program planning and registration.  Anne Spitler, Coordinator.  Please contact the church office for more information.

CtK Children's Clothes Closet

Our Children's Clothes Closet provides donated clothing (infants to youth) for foster families and other needy families.  Donations of clothing and baby furniture are always needed as are volunteers to sort and size clothing and donations.  Francis Wyers, Coordinator.  To volunteer or request assistance, please contact the church office.
