Paul Kaeser's Celebrate Christ the King Task Force Update, February 20-21.
It is my pleasure to update you on the current status of the Celebrate Christ the King Task Force. As you know, the Task Force is charged with leading the congregation through the process of discovering and defining our mission and vision to the point where the Church Council can appoint a Call Committee to seek a permanent Senior Pastor.
First of all, the Task Force wants to thank you for responding to the Reveal Spiritual Life Survey! 207 of you accepted the challenge of participating in this excellent online survey which concluded on February 8th. This is a wonderful response and exceeds the minimum number needed to obtain valid and meaningful data. Not only did you respond to questions about your personal spiritual life in the Reveal Survey, but also to questions of what you would like the leadership of Christ the King to make available to enhance the spiritual life of all members and the surrounding community. We anticipate receiving the professionally processed survey results no later than mid March.
Meanwhile, in January and February, the Task Force met with you in various small group settings to gather input from members regarding your vision of Christ the King in the future. Your responses to the four broad questions we posed came from both the heart and from keen insight.
We also continue to study information about our local community, and more importantly, Christ the King’s role in it. Yesterday, the Celebrate Christ the King Task Force met in an extended meeting to discuss and analyze information and results from both the Percept Ministry Area Profile and the results from our Fall 2008 participation in the US Congregational Survey.
Next steps include analyzing and combining results from all of these sources into developing a new Mission statement. Finally, all of this information will enable us to complete our Ministry Site Profile. This very lengthy and detailed document, which describes who we are and what we want to become, is required by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America before we can proceed with a Call Committee.
We share your excitement as we all strive to be the congregation God calls us to be! Please continue to pray with us, and for us, and for God’s blessing upon this congregation. Thank You!
