Celebrate Task Force Update - Sean Daley 11-22

Sean Daley's Celebrate Christ the King Task Force Update, November 21-22.

Thank you all for the opportunity to speak with you today; I promise not to take up too much time.  First I’d like to share a little about myself and my family, and then provide you with some information regarding the Celebration Task Force.  I am Sean Daley and we, my wife Davi and our girls (Savanna, Lian, Alexandra and Kyla-not born yet), moved to Atlanta in the summer of 2000. Davi and I had always belonged to small congregations growing up and were used to a very close-  knit environment of fellowship and support.  As we were looking for a new church home, we started attending services here at Christ the King.  Needless to say, we were overwhelmed and a bit anxious about the size of the church.  Certainly with so many people, an individual or a family couldn’t experience the closeness and true feeling of belonging.  Well, we were wrong.  On November 18, 2001, we joined the family here at Christ the King.  It would take me too long to list all of the wonderful events and many blessings we have experienced since, but here are a few: attending CTK pre-school, first communions, Sunday school, children’s choir, youth trips, dinner club, children & holiday programs and on and on.  What has been most special is the love, friendship, support and prayers we have received during our most challenging of times: loss of family members, a child’s illness and surgery and most recently unemployment.  I feel blessed to have the opportunity to serve on the Celebration Task Force.  It is a very small way that I can give back as well as working to insure other families and individuals can experience what my family and I have over the past 9 years.

Now onto the update of the Celebration Task Force; we feel it is important that the congregational members are as informed as possible about the workings and progress of the Celebration Task Force in a timely manner.  In order to accomplish this we will be doing the following:

  1. A Celebrate CTK Task Force link has been added to the church’s website. There you will be able to find the most recent activities and updates.

  2. Email news alerts will include CTK Task Force Updates.

  3. A detailed timeline will be published for members to reference.

We are currently going through the process of reviewing data from the US Congregational Survey taken by the congregation last fall and comparing it to another, the Percept Demographic Survey Analysis.  Percept is a service that provides information to church leaders about the beliefs, attitudes, concerns and religious behavior of the people in a given area.  Starting next month, members of the task force will be visiting during the small group activities and Committees here at church to listen to your direct concerns and feedback.  We will combine all this information and work to establish the basis of our congregational profile.  This profile will enable the Senior Pastor Call Committee to begin its interview process.  Our goal is to have the call committee established by the first of April.

This has been and will continue to be a journey in faith and love for one another.  I especially think Galatians 6:9-10 states it best:  “So let’s not allow ourselves to give up, or quit.  Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.” (From The Message//Remix)

Thank you for your time and I ask for your continued prayers for the task force and our congregation.  Members include: Dottie D’Angelo Smith, Jerry Cox, Tricia Bill, Ken Santiago, Paul Kaeser, Sean Daley, Nori Riley, Matt Zurn, Austin Hecht, Pastor Sherry, and Pastor Salness.
